Having been a late bloomer
in the area of self-discovery, my creative life got off to a
somewhat slow start. After my father's death from cancer,
I had the opportunity as a cosmetician to open my own salon at
St. John's Hospital where I offered a wig and make-up service
to women undergoing chemotherapy. Little did I know that this
was only the beginning of my creative journey. In 1991, my
husband and I moved our family to Chicago. I desperately attempted
to find my own emotional equilibrium after our very difficult
move. When going through the mail one day, I almost threw out
a brochure for a "silversmith" class
at a local art school. Not knowing what to expect, I decided
I had nothing to lose. That was when destiny rose up to meet
me. I felt as if I'd been reborn through this newfound passion,
and once you find that the rest seems to follow. My life began
to change from that moment on. I am a living testament that wonderful
things can happen when you are pushed head first into personal
growth.
Having attended Idaho State University and years of studying with renowed
artists has brought me to the place I am today. I have been
honored to have my jewelry shown at The Millennium, an art gallery
in Chicago, as well as Bas Blue in Rancho Santa Margarita and
The Look in Fashion Island. With the incredible support of my
family and friends, I have had the opportunity to truly express
myself through my metalsmithing. I wish to express my gratitude
to my customers for their generous support of my work. Because
of them I have been able to give back to organizations that can
also change people's lives. We are all here for a purpose and
sometimes finding it is the hardest job of all.
My sincere appreciation,
